Pioneer Power is this weekend, Aug. 27-29
LE SUEUR - The Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association Hosts its 37th Annual Show for three big days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 27, 28, and 29. The activities will take place at Le Sueur County Pioneer Power Association’s beautiful show grounds located 6 miles east of LeSueur on County Road 26.
This year’s feature tractor is Oliver and Hart Parr. Collectors from all over the Upper Midwest and Canada will be exhibiting and demonstrating Oliver and Hart Parr tractors and equipment. In addition to the Olivers, there will be the usual collection of tractors and equip- ment of all makes, models and colors. Many working demonstrations of various old time farming practices will be conducted, including threshing, corn shredding and shelling, combining, plowing, and well drilling, just to name a few. Antique construction machinery will be working too.
In addition to the various field activities, visitors may view hundreds of gas engines on display in the tree- shaded “Gas Engine Alley.” The Halloran Schoolhouse will be open, as well as the Dresselville Creamery Building. The broom makers will be making and selling brooms in the Ladies Activities Building. A large playgound area is available for the kids. Don’t forget to take a ride on the miniature railroad, located in the Manke Woods.
On Friday, the 9th Annual Consignment Auction will be conducted. Last year the auction attracted almost 500 bidders, and a large amount of antique tractors, machinery and other equipment was sold.
Saturday’s Antique Tractor Pull is one of the best in the area. It features Antique Factory Stock, Hobby Stock and Antique Open Classes. The Pioneer Power Fire Department is planning numerous Fire and Safety demonstrations throughout the weekend.
If you are hungry, the Pancake House offers a delicious Pancake Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Home cooked food is the specialty in the Threshers kitchen, and numerous other food vendors offer various types of food all three days.
A parade will take place all three days at 12:30 p.m. A tremendous lineup of musical entertainment is planned. On Friday, the Kallisch Family Band will play in the morning, and The Jolly Brewers will entertain in the afternoon. Saturday’s lineup includes bluegrass favorite One Fast Move in the morning, and the Dale Pexa Band will play old time favorites after the parade. Marv Nissel’s Band will play on Sunday morning, and the Fendermen will be on stage Sunday afternoon. A musicians’ “Jam Session” will be held on Friday and Saturday evenings, hosted by Tom Goetzinger. All old time musicians are welcome to play. A Catholic Mass will be offered at 6 p.m. Saturday, and an Ecumenical Service will be conducted at 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
